CONVERT UNITS

CONVERT UNITS uses Microsoft's Clickonce technology. When you "run" CONVERT UNITS from the web site, the program and its associated data files are downloaded to your machine. The program then executes on your machine in a secure "sandbox" provided by Microsoft's .NET code access security (CAS) that limits what the program is allowed to do.

Once CONVERT UNITS has been downloaded, it may be executed offline as well. A shortcut will be added to the Start menu and the program can be launched from there. An item will also be added to the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel so that you can uninstall the application.

If you later run the program from the Start Menu while online, an update on the server will be detected and you will be asked whether you want to download the new version.

Depending on the browser you are using, your security settings, and whether or not you have a firewall installed, you may be presented with one or more security warnings during the downloading process. In some environments, you must grant permission to download. In the latter case, if permission elevation is not granted, the program cannot be downloaded.

If you are using a proxy server, you may need to go to Internet Explorer/ Tools/Internet Options/Connections/LAN Settings/Proxy Server and uncheck "Use a proxy server...".

The Clickonce technology requires that Microsoft's .NET Framework be installed on your computer. If you do not already have that software installed, it will be automatically installed prior to the download of CONVERT UNITS. This installation may require several minutes to complete.
